On October 17th at 4:26 am MST we have the Full Moon in Aries. The Full Moon is a time of culmination, completion, and emotional intensity. When it occurs in Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, it ignites an energy of action, courage, and new beginnings. Aries is known for its impulsive, passionate nature, and when the Moon illuminates this sign, we are all called to confront our desires, assert our individuality, and take charge of our lives. However, this particular Full Moon comes with a significant astrological aspect: a t-square to Mars in Cancer. Mars, the ruler of Aries, represents our drive, ambition, and how we pursue our goals. In Cancer, Mars is more protective, nurturing, and emotionally driven, often leading to passive-aggressive tendencies or defensive behavior. A Full Moon, in the first sign of the Zodiac, suggests there is something you need to complete in order to start fresh and new.
The tension between the Aries Moon and Mars in Cancer can create a push-pull dynamic where our desire to act (Aries) conflicts with our emotional needs or insecurities (Cancer). This t-square aspect is challenging, forcing us to navigate the balance between going after what we want and addressing the emotional undercurrents that may be holding us back. The Sun in Libra, the other planet in the t-square highlights our relationships. We are successful with others, but are we honoring our own needs too? There’s a possibility of anger, frustration, and impulsiveness emerging during this time, so it’s important to remain mindful of how we express our emotions and assert ourselves.
The second t-square at this time adds in Pluto, the planet of death and rebirth to the mix. This forms a very wide Grand Cardinal cross, which means there are 4 planets each in a cardinal sign, Cancer, Capricorn, Aries, Libra, pressing against one another for control. Pluto works beneath the service, it can be more psychological than active in your physical world. In Capricorn it is now finally done with the review that started in 2008 and ready to move on. Are you? There is something you are under pressure to finish now. Something you need to let go of that has all to do with the house where Pluto resides. You are letting go of the way it was, in order for it to be reborn stronger. At the Full Moon you are just getting a glimpse of the work. As the Sun, Moon and Mars will all continue to build in their conflicts with Pluto over the coming weeks. The Moon moving fastest has the most immediate challenge with Pluto. It asks if you are going to let fear continue to control you or are you ready to step into your power?

This Full Moon also comes with other significant planetary aspects that color its energy:
Venus in Scorpio Sextile Pluto in Capricorn
Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and relationships, is in the intense and transformative sign of Scorpio. This placement deepens our emotional connections, making us crave intimacy and truth. Sextile to Pluto, the planet of transformation and power, in Capricorn, this aspect brings opportunities for profound change in our relationships. It encourages us to let go of old patterns, embrace vulnerability, and rebuild from a stronger foundation. Whether it’s in love, finances, or self-worth, this Venus-Pluto aspect helps us find empowerment through emotional honesty and resilience. With Pluto recently ending its retrograde, its time to put the finishing touches on the work and move forward. With Neptune, the planet of dreams speaking in harmony with both planets, there are mysteries and hidden pleasures coming to your conscious reality.
Jupiter in Gemini, Retrograde, and Sextile Chiron and the Moon in Aries
Jupiter, the planet of expansion and wisdom, is retrograde in Gemini, highlighting a period of introspection and reevaluation of our beliefs and knowledge. Sextile to Chiron, the Wounded Healer, and this Full Moon in Aries, this aspect offers healing opportunities through learning and communication. We are called to confront old wounds related to our identity, confidence, and assertiveness. This is a chance to revisit past experiences, find new perspectives, and use our understanding to heal and grow. The energy of this aspect supports intellectual exploration as a means to overcome personal challenges. With Jupiter just beginning its retrograde journey, as of October 9th, the energy is more intense. The potential to misspeak is high, slow down and think through what you need to say.
Mercury in Scorpio Inconjunct the North Node in Aries
Mercury, the planet of communication and thought, is in Scorpio, a sign known for its depth, intensity, and investigative nature. However, its inconjunct aspect to the North Node in Aries indicates a struggle to align our thoughts and communication with our karmic path or life purpose. We may feel pulled between exploring the hidden, psychological realms (Mercury in Scorpio) and stepping into a bold, pioneering role (North Node in Aries). This aspect challenges us to find a way to integrate deep emotional insights with our need to forge ahead on our life journey.
Sun in Libra Inconjunct Uranus in Taurus
The inconjunct aspect between the Sun in Libra and Uranus in Taurus highlights a fundamental mismatch between these two energies. The Sun in Libra seeks harmony, connection, and equilibrium in relationships, while Uranus in Taurus desires freedom, independence, and unconventional approaches, particularly in areas related to security, finances, and values. An unexpected change in a relationship could be the key to you stepping fully into your power.
